This document sets out the National Lifelong Learning Strategy for Malta for 2014-2020.  It meets Malta’s  obligations within the EU Lisbon process; addresses the challenges faced in embedding Lifelong Learning within our society and identifies the areas of national priority in the years to come.

 Lifelong Learning is an all embracing concept. The simplest iteration means that people should have the  opportunity to learn throughout their lives.  It comprises all learning from ‘the cradle to the grave’
(Mayo, 2007): from early childhood education and compulsory schooling to vocational education and training (VET), higher education, adult education and learning in our senior years.  The process of Lifelong Learning  may also take place through the integration of formal, non-formal and informal learning so as to create the ability for continuous lifelong development of the quality of life.     ( Pg7)
